As I near my 51st birthday later this month, I’m reflecting on all I’ve learned over the past year. Because I enjoy giving more than receiving, I’m sharing my top 5 lessons with you:

- Health isn’t built through perfection. It’s built through consistency.
As I continue to explore nutrition, habits, and sustainable wellness, the common thread is that taking care of yourself isn’t about doing everything right. It’s about making choices you can keep making, even during busy seasons. In fact, I’ve been trying to follow the advice I give my clients–create habits that you can keep even on your worst, busiest days and times of the year. If you can do that, you can surely do it when things are not as stressful. - Motherhood doesn’t mean putting yourself last forever.
I am redefining what it means to care for my family. My health, energy, and emotional well-being aren’t selfish priorities. They’re foundational to how I show up as a mom. I’ve learned to ask for help when I need it, delegate, and let things go. - Simple usually beats complicated.
The best solutions to health, fitness, habits, etc. tend to be the ones that fit real life, not the ones that look impressive on paper. It’s ok if your fitness routine is mundane. Walking every day on the same route is OK. Keeping meals simple with convenient, consistent ingredients works! - Growth is often quieter than you expect.
Rather than dramatic transformations, I’ve been noticing the small mindset shifts: more confidence in my decisions, more trust in my instincts, and a greater appreciation for progress that unfolds gradually. Those subtle changes have often been the most meaningful.
Every birthday makes me realize that the biggest lessons aren’t the loud ones. They’re the quiet shifts in how I think, how I care for myself, and how I show up for the people I love. This year has reminded me that consistency matters more than perfection, that taking care of myself makes me a better mother, that simple often wins, that my story is worth sharing, and that growth is usually happening long before we notice it.
What’s one thing you’ve learned this year? I’d love to hear your reflection in the comments.
