It’s been a while since I wrote a review. Honestly, there hasn’t been anything new worth writing about until now. I recently came across a fitness app that blew me away. I have long thought that there is a dearth of faith-based fitness coaching. But I didn’t know about Hypuro Fit.
What is Hypuro Fit?
Hypuro Fit is a Catholic fitness and wellness app that combines workout programming, nutrition tracking, and faith-based educational content into a single platform. Chase Crouse founded the app, which is designed to integrate physical fitness with Catholic teachings, including Theology of the Body and habit formation.
The platform offers workout programs for a variety of fitness levels and goals, including gym-based, home, beginner, postpartum, and older adult programs. Users can access exercise demonstrations, nutrition-tracking tools, barcode food-scanning, and habit-tracking features through the app.
My Take on Its Features
After downloading the app, I immediately scrolled through the available programs, which align well with how I coach and train. I chose a push-pull-legs hybrid 5-day program and am finishing up Week 3 as I write this. I love the workout portion of the app. It’s easy to follow the exercises and find substitutions if needed, and tracking weights and reps is simple. It is also easy to see what you did last time, as that information is right under the current week. What’s more, there is a rest timer that alerts you when it’s time to do your next set, even if you leave to check email or a text.
The app also allows users to find a coach for one-on-one training, at an increased cost.
Nutrition Features
I am also using the food tracking section of the app but it is a bit clunky to use and not as user-friendly and comprehensive as Cronometer. For one thing, it is not possible to add your own recipes. Plus, it only focuses on the main macronutrients, not fiber or micronutrients. For someone looking for baseline tracking, though, it’s passable.
Other Features
In addition to fitness and nutrition content, Hypuro Fit provides educational resources focused on prayer, discipline, spiritual growth, and healthy lifestyle habits. The app also includes community and coaching features intended to provide accountability and support for users. I have engaged with the community a few times and find it vibrant and popular among app users.
Hypuro Fit is available through mobile app platforms and offers subscription-based membership options, including monthly and annual plans. The company also states that priests and religious receive complimentary access to the platform.
According to information published on the company’s website, the app’s mission is to promote health and wellness through a Catholic framework that connects physical training with spiritual development. This app is completely focused on Catholics and Catholic teaching. It’s the first time I’ve found anything like it and feel it’s a well-kept secret in the fitness world. The app would benefit from promotion within parishes to recruit more users.
