Is it any surprise that Mother’s Day and the month of Mary fall together in May? I don’t think so. In this sacred season, we not only celebrate the mothers who’ve raised us — and the ones we’re becoming — but we also honor Mary, the most faithful mom of all. But what does Mary have to do with meal prep, strength training, and hydration goals? Everything.
Mary: A Model of Strength, Surrender, and Stewardship
When we think of “strength,” we often picture dumbbells, cardio, and meal plans. But as Catholic moms, we need to see strength through the lens of faith. Mary wasn’t known for planks or protein shakes, but she embodied a strength this world doesn’t often recognize:
➡️ The strength to say yes when it’s terrifying.
➡️ The strength to walk through suffering with hope.
➡️ The strength to raise a child in obscurity, knowing He belonged to God.
That same kind of strength is what we need as moms juggling jobs, dinner, hormones, faith, and a million tabs open in our brains.
Wellness = Stewardship, Not Selfishness
Your body is not something to “fix.” It’s a gift to steward — the very vessel that lets you serve, love, move, and fulfill your vocation.
Mary’s womb literally carried Jesus. That tells us something profound: God chose a woman’s body as a dwelling place for His Son. That’s not weakness — that’s sacred strength.
Every walk you take, every nourishing meal you choose, every night of solid sleep — it’s not just self-care. It’s holy stewardship.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit…?” (1 Corinthians 6:19)
Fitness as an Act of Faith
Movement isn’t just about losing weight. It’s about gaining energy to do God’s work with joy.
➡️ A strong body supports a strong spirit.
➡️ A nourished body fuels better patience.
➡️ A rested mom is a more present wife, friend, and disciple.
When you meal prep, when you lift weights, when you go for a walk and pray the Rosary — you’re doing holy work.
A Simple Reflection for Moms
As we move through May, pause and ask:
“Mary, help me to care for my body the way you cared for Jesus — with love, patience, and purpose.”
You don’t need to do everything perfectly. Just like Mary, you only need to say yes, one small step at a time.
In Closing: This Mother’s Day, Be Inspired by Mary
This month, let Mary lead you. Let her remind you that strength isn’t about pushing harder — it’s about showing up with trust, even when it’s hard. You don’t have to earn your worth. But you can steward the body God gave you — with joy, intention, and just a little holy grit.
