For those who believe, today is Easter Sunday, the day Jesus is risen. It’s the happiest day in the Christian calendar, but it’s more than faith. Jesus showed us all how change can happen and how it leads to new beginnings and wonderful things.
Consider how it feels to decide you want to make a change with your health and wellness. It’s daunting. It might feel impossible. You might dread having to give things up, make more time, and do things differently that are not yet comfortable. Jesus did those things, too. He made the impossible possible by dying on the cross and coming back to life. He turned water into wine, and bread into his body. He continues to do bring his body and blood to us week after week in the Eucharistic feast. If he can make a change and stick to it, so can we.
Easter is a time for new beginnings. A time you can decide to make changes that will impact your health and that of your families, friends, and loved ones. It’s a time to seize the longer days and plant a garden. It’s time to go for a long walk in the evening, maybe with a beloved pet or husband 🙂 It’s time to make healthier food choices, adopt a new exercise program, and make time for rest and relaxation.
Where do new beginnings start?
Your new life starts today with just one change. Maybe you’ll drink a glass of water when you wake up. Maybe you’ll go to sleep five minutes earlier. Maybe you will have a salad with dinner. Choose one thing. Do it until it becomes a habit, a consistency in your life. Do it until it no longer feels like a change. Then, add another new habit, and another, and another. Day by day, bit by bit.
You Are Not Alone
Just as Jesus did not face his trials alone, neither are you isolated. You may have family, friends, and loved ones to support you. If you don’t know anyone who would be supportive, consider seeking out a coach who would be more than happy to help you on your journey. Coaches can be excellent, trusted friends, companions, and guides on your health and fitness journey. The investment you make in them will pay you back exponentially.
If you are not a believer, seize this time anyway. Spring, too, is a time for new beginnings. Take advantage of the newness the season brings. The fresh air, warmer temperatures, and brighter days beckon. New beginnings. What will yours bring?
