I recently read that July 2 is the official mid-year point of 2025. Wow. The year is half over already. How did that even happen? For many of us, these milestones represent opportunities to reflect, reimagine, and restart. Whether it’s a Monday, the first day of a month, or a year, having a reason can help move us to create new intentions and start (or restart) new habits.
A Half-Year Resolution
You’ve heard of a New Year’s Resolution, but what about a Half-Year Resolution? Well, I think I made that up. Still, the mid-year point is a great time to take stock of where you’ve been and what you’ve accomplished. Did you make a resolution this year? How are you doing? Is it still relevant to you? Depending on your answers to these questions, you may want to make adjustments, set new goals, or reaffirm your current ones. Maybe 2025 is the year you start committing to a Half-Year Resolution, moving you ever closer to your ideal.
A Mid-Year Point to Pause
Maybe you’re not into resolutions at all. The mid-year point could still be significant for you. July is a typical vacation month for many. Perhaps you take the time to pause, relax, and reflect on the year so far. Stopping halfway through a project, workout, or dinner helps us refuel and energize to finish strong. Why should that be different when it’s halfway through a year? In my opinion, we don’t take enough breaks. We don’t rest enough. Many of us don’t get enough sleep. And we are always on the go. Why not take this opportunity to stop? Smell the ocean air (or lake, or backyard). Take a deep breath. Exhale. Rest.
Mid-Year Movement
If you’ve been resistance training regularly, you might be getting bored with your current routine. You’re probably at a place where you can and should transition to a new program or modality. The mid-year point represents a time when you can reflect on the fact that it was when you made the shift. Whether you add more outdoor movement, switch your training program, or begin working with a new trainer, take advantage of the halfway point of 2025 to make moves!
The Importance of Milestones
We live our lives through a series of milestones. From birth to pre-school, to elementary, secondary, and beyond, there are many “first days,” “last days”, “100 days,” and graduations. We celebrate holidays, vacation periods, weddings, funerals, and new births. Why not add the mid-year point to the list of annual milestones to observe? Take advantage of another time to reflect, reset, renew, and recharge. Happy July 2!
