December Vibes

It’s been a hot minute since I posted to the blog. It’s been on my to-do list for weeks! Other things keep getting in front of it, such as the end of the year. I’ve been trying to take the time to reflect on 2024, but honestly? I have no idea where to start. So, true to form, I’ll take a step-wise, chronological approach to remember the year that was.

January

I started the year with COVID (my second bout with the virus). That would have been unfortunate enough, but we also lost our beloved flat-coated retriever, Daisy, to bone cancer. I was unable to be there with her when she passed, which broke my heart. Still, I soldiered on and tried to focus on other things, such as my Hourglass Mom business. I attended a MindPump Coaches and Trainers Conference and signed up for a trainer course to help me better understand the business side of things and jump-start my coaching to help more people. I was one of the first 100 to register, which earned me a trip to the MindPump studios in San Jose, California, for live training! More on that later.

February

The second month of 2024 was full of high school cheer competitions and continued focus on growing my business. My car’s transmission started to go, so I unexpectedly bought a new one, which was both good and bad. I mean, it’s always nice to have a new ride, but the pocketbook wasn’t so happy about it!

March

March was a tough month. Lucia suffered a concussion during cheer practice and had to miss the trip to the national competition in Florida. The concussion was scary enough without the added emotional toll of missing the trip that she had been looking forward to for months. On the positive side, we found a breeder whose puppies were born on our wedding anniversary. It was destiny! We committed to picking up a new little boy in April.

April

April started with a total solar eclipse, which was anticlimactic since it was cloudy! We picked up Ozzy (AKC Bark at the Moon) the Friday before the eclipse and proceeded to remember puppyhood and all its wonders! My business was growing, and at work, I was speeding to the finish line of the academic year.

May

There wasn’t much to report in May besides all the end-of-year crazy at work. I was already nearly to my goal of reading 50 books during the year and had devoured both print and audiobooks from several genres. Oh, and how could I forget my first trip to California? It was such a cool experience.

June/July

June marked the end of the school year for the kids, including Maria’s graduation from high school. We got her ready to take the driver’s test, which she passed! Christopher participated in summer sleep-away camp again, and we enjoyed all the warm summer weather. My husband started a significant project on the back of the house, which included adding stairs to our balcony and more. We also had a 4th of July party, our second since moving here four years ago.

August

August is for sports camps and cheer prep for the upcoming season. It marks the end of summer for me as faculty return to campus, followed by the students. In honor of my birthday month, I did my first giveaway, offering 5 people the chance to coach with me for a whole month free. That was so much fun!

September

Back to school minus one kid. Christopher joined a flag football league, and Lucia joined a local performance rec cheer team. Maria turned 18!

October

Lucia decided not to continue with varsity cheer, going all in on performance rec. We had an unusually warm Halloween, with temperatures near 80 at trick-or-treat time! I began a mentoring program, where I observed the MindPump Coaches training 50 clients on GLP-1 agonists. That was eye-opening and super helpful for my business since so many are taking these types of drugs for weight loss.

November

Back to CYO basketball for Christopher and I continued participating in the Mind Pump Fitness Coaching Academy offerings, learning all about online coaching and how to help more people.

We’re into December now and I have to say, after reflecting on it, all the even years in my life have been a bit lackluster. I mean, I had all three of my children in even years but one featured a bitter divorce and the other a huge career shift from healthcare to higher education, both of which were significant! The odd years have been more prosperous for me, having gotten married in an odd year, promoted in odd years, etc. So, what will 2025 bring? Hopefully, prosperity, health, blessings, and happiness. What else do I hope for in the new year?

More clients to help reach their health and fitness goals

More money to support my children’s activities and dreams

Continued good health for my family and friends

A new job challenge, whether in my current role or something new

An unexpected happy surprise I may write about this time next year. 😉
