The Triduum is upon us. Soon, we will experience the Last Supper, Crucifixion, and Resurrection again. It’s challenging to take the necessary time to pause, quiet our minds, and truly reflect on what this means for our lives. We have work, school, kids’ activities, and more. Unfortunately, the world doesn’t stop for Jesus, even as we wish it would. Here are three ways I find time to ponder, meditate, and pray during Holy Week.
- Attend daily Mass. If you can, go to Mass before heading to work. Sometimes, you can also find a midday service that you can attend during your lunch hour. To search for a Mass near you, check out Masstimes.org.
- Listen to a podcast. Find a Catholic podcast that discusses the life and death of Jesus Christ. Many of them will focus on Holy Week, and you can listen while cleaning the house, driving to work, or waiting for your son to get out of sports practice.
- Pray the Rosary. Before bed, take 10 minutes to pray the Rosary. That’s how long it takes. Think about the Sorrowful Mysteries as you pray: the agony in the garden, the scourging at the pillar, the crown of thorns, the carrying of the cross, and the crucifixion.
Make time to attend Mass on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter weekend. Bring your children. Experience the entire story from start to finish. You will be glad you took the time.
