Day in the Life (These Days)

Ever wonder what my day is like? I mean a typical weekday? Well, there is no typical in my world but there are some things that remain constant or nearly constant from day to day. In case you’re curious about how I juggle all the things, here is a timeline:

5 a.m. – Alarm goes off and I head down to feed the dog and cats and work out in my home gym. (Some days are rest days and the alarm goes off around 6:15 a.m. instead.) If it’s a nice morning, I do a one-mile walk with my dog, Daisy, listening to my daily podcasts–Catechism in a Year, Daily Reflection with Jeff Cavins, MindPump–and praying–Daily Rosary and Morning Liturgy of the Hours.

6:15 a.m. – Shower and get ready for work (I lay out my clothes the night before to save time.)

6:40 a.m. – Eat breakfast and continue podcasts and prayer.

7:15 a.m. – Leave for work, which takes me about 25 to 30 minutes. On the drive I continue my podcasts and prayer. Other podcasts I listen to include The Industrial Strength Show, Word on Fire, Habits and Hustle, All Things Catholic, The Jeff Cavins Show, Muscle for Life, Girlfriends, and The Cheer Mom Podcast.

8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. – Work… and during lunch hours I typically review my budget, do grocery shopping and check in with clients. I try to maximize my lunch break as much as possible!

4:15 p.m. – Commute home. Sometimes I head to a school to pick up a kid from practice.

5 to 6 p.m. – Make dinner

6 to 8 p.m. – Work out, if I skipped the morning, drive kids to and from activities, keep laundry going, pick up around the house.

8 to 9 p.m. – Cross stitch and relax

9 to 9:30 p.m. – Read to my son

9:30 to 10 p.m. – Read to myself! 🙂 This is where I’m trying to add an evening/nighttime prayer to my schedule, as well.

10 p.m. – Sleep

On weekends, I catch up on laundry, clean the house, attend Mass (and soon, religious education with two of my three children), do projects around the house, and meal prep lunch and breakfast for the next week. Prayer and podcasts are part of my weekend routine, as well.

Now you can see how I fit everything in! I hope this gives you some ideas of how you, too, can fit in workouts, prayer, work, household obligations, and family time. If you need some more guidance or accountability, contact me! Happy to help.
